Chances are the average latina actress/producer/etc. is having a tough time in Hollywood if her name doesn’t begin with “Eva” and end in either “Mendez” or “Longoria.” A slight remedy to this problem arrives in the form of the 6th Boyle Heights Latina Independent Film Extravaganza, founded by Josefina Lopez (Real Women Have Curves). The festival returns with a new image, a new director and a new venue and hopes to connect latina filmmakers while celebrating their work in front of and behind the camera.
Short film screenings are $10 each and events/seminars are $15 each.
