Omar Rodriguez-Lopez of The Mars Volta will perform in select cities during summer 2010. Joining him onstage as the Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Group will be bassist Juan Alderete de la Peña and percussionist Marcel Rodriguez Lopez, both of The Mars Volta; occasional Volta drummer Deantoni Parks, John Cale, and his own band, Kudu; and Grammy-nominated vocalist Ximena Sariñana Rivera, who has participated on recent Rodriguez Lopez albums.
The event will also be featuring Omar’s new entreprise as a producer: Mexican rock punk band The Butcharettes.
Le Butcharettes’ songs usually start with a melodic tune and love lyrics that soon turns into literal fuck-yous of corrosive punk distortion. Terry Gender Bender, lead vocalist and songwriter, is spectacular on the stage: a contradictory image of an innocent, obedient, sexygirl on a childish dress, and a punk machine full of rage, blood and violent anarchy who likes to throw all sort of things to the audience: fake blood, flour, eggs and her own body.
