Aptly-named cumbia and vallenato performer Mr. Vallenato will be headlining the Todos por Haití benefit concert taking place this Sunday. He will be joined by Mariachi Divas, Son Mayor, Johnny Polanco, Yari Moré, Chino Espinoza, Roxing Cafe, Rumbankete, Melena y Su Grupo, La Palabra, Ángel Lebrón, Fay Roberts, Sonora de Colombia and Mandinga. 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Red Cross Haiti Relief. A minimum donation of $20 is required.
Mr. Vallenato, aka accordion player Jorge Villarreal, is a Texas-born Mexican American. He has shared the stage with Aterciopelados, Maldita Vecindad and Calle 13. He’s also worked with electronic/afro-colombian band Palenke Soultribe, Amandititita and Peruvian rocker Santino. His debult LP will be released this summer.
