For three decades, CicLAvia has worked to promote community, healthy living and a better urban life. What began in Bogota, Colombia as a way to combat and deal with congestion, the event has flourished throughout Latin America and the US. By giving people a reason to run, walk, bicycle, hang out and do cartwheels on closed-off, car-free city streets, CicLAvia gives people the chance to experience cities in a new way. And for five glorious hours on October 10th, city traffic in Los Angeles will come to a standstill along a 7.5 mile stretch from East Hollywood to Downtown Los Angeles. Now that’s what we call change-in-action.
Backed by the City of Los Angeles, CicLAvia’s event will be the first of its kind in LA, and it all comes with a price tag we can all nod to in approvail — free.
