Akwid is bringing its hybrid hip hop to the Conga Room. The L.A.-by-way-of-Michaoacán duo, comprised of brothers Sergio “Ak” Gómez and Francisco “Wikid” Gómez, mix hip-hop style vocals with regional Mexican music.
Their first album, Proyecto Akwid (2001), earned them two Billboard Prizes and a Latin Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album. After more than 15 productions, they’ve released Clasificado “R,” and will be performing songs off this new album during Thursday’s concert.
