Watch two documentaries by Sammy Loren, plus two by Julia Reagan (both from the Mindful Media Collective), this March 4 at the Echo Park Film Center.
SAMMY LOREN
Nueva Orleans. Stuffed into a crammed New Orleans clapboard house is a crew of Central American migrants. Seven days a week, they paint and tile fetid homes drowned by Hurricane Katrina in August of 2005.
Sandwiched in America. A short documentary about sandwich culture in America.
JULIA REAGAN
ArgenChino. As Argentina slowly recovers from the 2001 devaluation of the peso, it may seem an unlikely resting spot for Chinese expatriates. Although it’s a story that has been told by many newly emigrated groups in decades past – Koreans in New York City, the Chinese in San Francisco — it holds a unique meaning in present day Argentina.
Los Alfajores Music Videos. A fake Argentinian pop band sings in English about life in Buenos Aires.
ABOUT THE FILMMAKERS
Sammy Loren and Julia Reagan are documentary filmmakers based in Los Angeles, CA. They met in 2005 while living in Buenos Aires, Argentina and later formed the Mindful Media Collective– dedicated to giving voice to underrepresented groups via film.
