Manu Chao at the National Democratic Convention?

Manu Chao will perform on sunday August 24th in Tijuana, in what is being billed as his "only area appearance."  So start planning your road trip now! As we all know, Manu Chao concerts are more than that, its like attending a cult service in the best sense possible. Few performers can move and inspire audiences like that.
The globe-trotter cantante has shows scheduled at Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco on August 22 (Cafe Tacvba, Los Amigos Invisibles, Rodrigo y Gabriela are also on the bill) and and at Austin City Limits on August 26th (The Mars Volta, CSS, Jose Gonzalez are some of the Latin talent here).

So, we’re just wondering: will an appearance at the Democratic National Convention in Denver on August 27th be next? Josh Norek from Cookman International (Manu’s management and record label in the US) is now working with Voto Latino, so our wishful thinking might not be that far off. Manu Chao pumping fists with Obama might be the ultimate rock star move for the Democratic Presidential hopeful. Uy, se nos paran los pelos!

Below, a rare TV interview of Manu earlier this year with English Larry King-esque Sir David Frost (who’s rocking them red socks!, pretty funny.
